Meet a Member: Angel Wuellner

Meet PAR member Angel Wuellner, Business Development Director for the Educational Theatre Association. During her 17 year association career, Angel has also worked with the Actors Equity Association.
What do you find most rewarding about your work in associations?
I love making connections for our members that they might not have been able to make on their own. Our contribution is about making members’ lives easier so that they can focus on doing their best work and we provide the enhancements. It’s easy to admire and appreciate your members when they are educators striving to improve and support their students!
What is a recent project or initiative that you're especially proud of?
I have recently added on project managing our large general sessions at the beginning and end of our premier event, International Thespian Festival. Not only does it hold me accountable for our sponsor activations within those sessions, but I get to utilize my institutional knowledge of having been with EdTA for over ten years, to guide the process and facilitate success for my teammates also working on the project.
What’s a fun fact or quirky hobby that helps you unwind outside of work?
I am very involved in a local spring festival in Cincinnati (where I am based) called Bockfest. It’s a neighborhood celebration of beer, goats, monks, and sausage!
What’s your favorite quote or motto that keeps you motivated?
“The only thing more painful than learning from experience is not learning from experience.”
What would you do if you had an unlimited budget for your association?
Our premier event, International Thespian Festival, hosts high school theatre students from around the world to perform, learn, network, and audition for colleges. It’s such a mission moment for all of the staff and life-changing for so many students and teachers. I wish that all of our student and educator members could afford to participate every year – so I would make it free for all members to attend.
